The SAGID+ project is co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund to the tune of €409,500, by the ACTIBAC group and the Greater Nancy Metropolitan Area. It contributes to the collective ambition of ‘Des Hommes et Des Arbres, les racines de demain’, which has been awarded the Territoire d’Innovation label. It has also been awarded the Solar Impulse Efficient Solution Label.

SAGID+ Industrial Chair (2022 - 2027)

Scientists

  1. Improving the economic, environmental and socio-territorial performance of roadsides
  2. Support eco-responsible behaviour in terms of roadside management
  3. Integrate the accoroutiste profession into bio-economy sectors

Operational

  1. Increase knowledge of roadsides.
  2. Develop tools and methods capable of assessing the sustainability of roadside management practices.
  3. Support management and public action in favour of roadsides.

This Chair pays particular attention to green verges, also known as roadsides, and is interested in the sustainable management of these vegetated areas, which have the capacity to mitigate the negative impacts of roads on biodiversity and play a fundamental role in maintaining it. However, at present, the various stakeholders in an area do not have operational methodologies/models that would enable them to take into account and assess all of the above-mentioned issues simultaneously.

The overall aim of the Chair is to develop ‘turnkey’ tools and methods capable of assessing the sustainability of the practices implemented during the decision-making process supported by artificial intelligence, to then contribute to the integration of the profession into the bioeconomy sectors and to the evolution of eco-responsible behaviour.

The main thrusts of the project:

  1. Assessment of the ecosystem services provided by roadsides
  2. New strategic guidance and decision-making tools
  3. Integration into new bioeconomy sectors
  4. Supporting regions in changing their practices
